Q: I want to file the papers to dissolve my California nonprofit organization. Can I file the form in person?
A: There are only two locations where you can file documents with the California secretary of state: Sacramento and Los Angeles. However, the Los Angeles location is intended primarily as a place to get forms and information from the Secretary of State, not as a place to drop off forms. Although there are some forms accepted for in-person filing in Los Angeles, dissolution of a nonprofit corporation is not one of the forms accepted in person. Those have to be filed online, by mail, or in person in the Sacramento office at 1500 11th Street, Sacramento, CA 95814.
